Situation of roadblock [shown on German map of British defences]. On A256 road between its junction with the A253 road and the railway line, W of Ramsgate. (1)

The structural remains of the roadblock can be seen on wartime RAF aerial photographs and comprises anti-tank cubes (centred at TR 3556 6517) flanking the road immediately to the south of the railway crossing, between which a bar or obstacle could be seen blocking the road. From the crossroads of the A299 and A256 the road was lined with barbed wire obstructions and a single gun emplacement was situated on the north-eastern corner of the crossroads. A defended area or nodal point surronded on two sides sat within the triangle formed by the two roads and the railway line to the north. A single Pillbox (NRHE 1618053) was located within this, to the NW of the crossroads. No trace of any of these structures are believed to remain. (2-3)
