Summary

A Bronze Age palstave axe was found near Ashford in 1846, although the exact location of its discovery is uncertain. This artefact measures 16.9cm in length and was given to Merseyside County Museum as part of the Mayer Collection donated to the city in 1867.

Full Description

(Area TR 0142). Bronze palstave found near Ashford, in the Mayer collection at Liverpool. (1)

The palstave, length 169mm (see illus), was found near Ashford (centred TR 0142) in 1846. It is now in the Merseyside County Museum, Acc No M6398, the Mayer Collection having been donated to the city in 1867. (2-6)
