On East Stourmouth road, SE of Sarre.Roadblock [included in list of roadblocks in Defence Scheme]. Cassini ref. 711814. (1)
The site of a Second World War roadblock constructed on East Stourmouth Road on the bridge over the River Stour in mid 1940 to counter the threat of German Invasion. The roadblock was manned by the 6th Border Regiment and is recorded in the war diaries of 198 Infantry Brigade – Ref: 153. (2)
