Monument record TQ 63 NE 37 - Remains of the Scotney Park 'pale' (boundary) excavated during the A21 Lamberhurst Bypass

Summary

During the construction of the A21 Lamberhurst bypass, the possibly medieval remains of the 'pale' or boundary of the Scotney Castle estate were found. The ditch was c. 1-3 m wide and 0.3- 0.5 m deep. There may have been a bank on the inside.
