6 x concrete sockets that would have taken vertical steel rails as part of a roadblock. [Recorder terms these 'hedgehog insets'].Off Moncktons Lane, Springfield by towpath of River Medway. (1)
The remains of what may be a Second World War anti-tank rail is located close to the river Medway at Springfield, Maidstone. It is located close to other anti-tank obstacles (TQ 75 NE 423) and may have been designed to help direct German tanks towards guns in the Springfield area. The exact form of the rail is unknown. (2)
