Full Description
Second World War Air Ministry design Type 27 pillbox. The pillbox is one of a series defending Detling Airfield. The pillbox has two embrasures and a open central well for a light anti-aircraft machine gun.(1)
The site was visited in 2024 and the structure was described as "Concrete construction with brick facing, six sided, with modified reduced to two machine gun embrasures. Good overall condition. Has been adapted to protect bats, with steel door and grills, so unable to view interior." (2)
