Monument record TQ 75 SW 110 - Site of the former C17th Ewell Manor, Ewell, West Farleigh

Summary

Ewell Manor was demolished in 1967. It was originally built in the 17th century and enlarged in the 19th century with a new North wing and Westerly entrance. The extent of the 19th century grounds is marked by the linear shrubbery along the eastern boundary. The associated parklands and ponds have undergone various changes over time. The largest pond was created by 1844 at the latest and had been enlarged before the 1870 OS map. Smaller ponds were created in the 20th century. A cottage and stables, now known as The Bothy, were built by 1870. The Bothy, cart lodge and brick-built stock shed are still standing, together with a barn which has a thatched roof.The outbuildings all date to the 19th century.
