Summary

Neolithic axe and a flint thumb scraper found in Denge Wood in 1962 while a track was being bulldozed through Forestry Commission land. Both items, which were apparently found together, are in the Royal Museum, Canterbury.

Full Description

TR 098505: Neolithic axe found at southern end of Denge Wood by Mr Howell, Park Villa, Stelling Minnis, an employee of the Forestry Commission, early 1962. (1) Mr Howell indicated the findspot at TR 09785051, and stated that a flint thumb scraper was found with the axe. The implements, which are in the Royal Museum Canterbury, but not one exhibition, were discovered while a track was being bulldozed through forestry land. (2) additional bibliography (3-5)
