Monument record TR 05 SE 20 - Bronze Age burials, Godmersham

Summary

A crouched inhumation burial and remains of a mid Bronze Age bucket urn burial were excavated in April 1966 in the garden of a house near Godmersham. The burial was dated to the early Bronze Age or the beaker period, although a definite date was not certain. The crouched burial showed no evidence of grave goods but there were traces of a second urn in the levels below the first urn. The burial was sent to the Duckworth Laboratories, Cambridge and the urn fragments are thought to now be in Maidstone Museum.
