Findspot record TR 05 SE 34 - Neolithic tranchet axe, Godmersham

Summary

A Neolithic tranchet axe was found in a field near Godmersham after ploughing. This 'Thames Pick' handaxe was found with several worked flints and after further searching in the area a small, narrow chisel of white patinated flint 10.5cm in length was also found. The present location of these artefacts is uncertain.

Full Description

TR 01825105. Challock (sic). Several work flints, including a Thames Pick, with tranchet cutting edge found in a field after ploughing by Mr L Foster, 5 Forest House, Challock. A further search, in the vicinity yielded a small, narrow chisel of white patinated flint 10.5cm in length. (1)
