Monument record TR 06 NW 12 - Salt mound, Isle of Harty

Summary

This is one of a group of three earthmounds on the Isle of Harty which are thought to be the remains of medieval salt workings. The salt water creeks of Harty and Sheppey contain a large number of such mounds, and similar mounds at Seasalter have been excavated.
