Summary

This is one of a group of nine earth mounds on the Harty Marshes, representing the remains of medieval salt workings. A large number of such mounds are found in the salt water creeks of the Isles of Sheppey and Harty, and also at Seasalter.

One of a group of nine salt-working mounds on the Harty Marshes. Published 25" survey revised. [For salt-working on Sheppey see TQ 97 SW 6] (1) (TR 00646701) Medieval Saltworks (NR) (TR 00566670) Medieval Saltworks (NR) Isles of Sheppey and Harty: The salt water creeks of these isles contain a large number of mounds similar to those at Seasalter (TR 06 SE 6).
