Full Description
Small rectangular Second World War concrete air raid wardens post, originally on the site of a grass verge at the side of Station Road, near Northfleet Station. It was built around 1939/40 as one of a network of such posts within the boundaries of Northfleet Urban District Council. It was a local focus in the incident reporting chain for coordinating the emergency services in the event of injury or damage resulting from an air raid in the area it served. Its wardens also patrolled their community to enforce blackout restrictions. No other details are known. It would have been decommissioned in 1945 to be demolished soon afterwards.
