Full Description
Second World War Police telephone box on the pavement along the western side of Singlewell Road, near the junction of Windsor Road, Gravesend. It was probably one of a network of telephone boxes established in 1939, integrated into the reporting system for the civil defence of Gravesend. The design of the box is unknown but it may have been somewhat like a sentry box. The civil defence purpose of the box would have ended in 1945 but it may have continued in ordinary Police use for a time after the Second World War, to be removed at an unknown later date.
