Full Description

Second World War public air raid shelter built on a grassed area enclosed by the The Crescent at Northfleet, now covered by housing. It was probably built by 1939/40 and had space for 200 people from neighbouring houses. Although details of design are not known, it was probably a tunnel shelter formed from a concrete lined and roofed trench. It would have been decommissioned by the Spring of 1945 and probably destroyed by 1946.
