Second World War air raid wardens post of unknown form, on the NW corner of the junction of Old Road West with Windmill Street, Gravesend, and within the property of No. 2 Old Road West. It was estbalished by 1939/40. As one of a network of posts serving Gravesend, it was a loacl focus in the incident reporting chain for coordinating the rescue services in the event of injury or damage resulting from an air raid. Its patrolling wardens also enforced blackout restrictions. It reported to a control centre, first at the Old Town Hall in Gravesend and later to a new one in the police ststion in Windmill Street. It would have been decommissioned at the end of the Second World War and was later demolished.
