Full Description
Second World War air raid wardens post built in 1939 within Dashwood Recreation Ground on the south side of Old Road West, Gravesend. It was a rectangular concrete building with a flat roof. As one of a newtork of such posts, it was a local focus in the incident reporting chain for coordinating the emergency services in the event of injury or damage resulting from an air raid. It was also a place from which patrolling wardens enforced blackout restrictions. It reported to a control centre in Gravesend. It would have been decommissioned by around the end of the Second World War in Europe and was demolished around 1985, being succeeded by an electricty sub-station.
