Second World War emergency mortuary in the detached stables at the back of the Railway Tavern, Wrotham Road, Meopham. The stables are a two-storey building about 12 m x 6 m. They formed part of the civil defence arrangements to handle storage of bodies following an air raid. The nature of any adaptations to fit the stables for their designated purpose is not known. The stables had been commissioned as a mortuary by the end of 1939 and were probably decommissioned by the end of the Second World War in Europe in 1945. The stables survive.
