Full Description

Second World War public air raid shelter for 30 people established in the basement of The Grange, set back from the north side of London Road in Northfleet. It formed part of the general provision of shelter space for the community. Its design is unknown but its preparation would have involved the strengthening of the basement by the insertion of strutting. It would have been decommissioned by the end of the Second World War in Europe in 1945 and the strutting removed by the same year or 1946. The Grange was demolished in c. 1960 and its site was overbuilt by a manse for Rosherville Church.
