Second World War First Aid Post set up in the Working Men's Club, on the north side of Hermitage Road, Higham. In an adaptation of the premises, it occupied the Club's Recreation Room, which was presumably equipped with the basics of care facilities and pre-positioned medical supplies. It was in existence by January 1940 but may have been established in 1939 as part of a wider pattern of First Aid Posts in the rural community to handle the possible effects of casualties from air bombing. No other details are known. The facility would have been decommissioned by the end of the Second World War in Europe in 1945. The club survives in altered and extended form. The eastern part of the building looks the older and it was probably this which contained the First Aid Post.
