Full Description
Second World War Defended Locality DL 20 at Chalk, near Gravesend. It may have spanned the approaches from the east along the Rochester Road, part of the marshes to the north and part of RAF Gravesend to the south. It was probably designated in 1940. The nature of its defences is unknown but the garrison was 220, with 150 rifles, 14 Browning Automatic Rifles, 4 Browning Machine Guns, 7 Northover Projectors and 2 tank guns. It would have been decommissioned by early in 1944. There are no known remnants of the defences.
