Summary

Second World War Defended Locality DL20 at Chalk near Gravesend. It may have spanned the Rochester Road, part of the marshes to the north and part of RAF Gravesend to the south. It was probably designated in 1940 and would have been decommissioned by early 1944. The nature of its defences is unknown. There are no known remains.

Full Description

Second World War Defended Locality DL 20 at Chalk, near Gravesend. It may have spanned the approaches from the east along the Rochester Road, part of the marshes to the north and part of RAF Gravesend to the south. It was probably designated in 1940. The nature of its defences is unknown but the garrison was 220, with 150 rifles, 14 Browning Automatic Rifles, 4 Browning Machine Guns, 7 Northover Projectors and 2 tank guns. It would have been decommissioned by early in 1944. There are no known remnants of the defences.
