Full Description
Second World War Defended Locality DL26 at Echo Square, Gravesend. This anti-invasion defence, probably originating in 1940, was centred on a key intersection of 5 roads. The nature of the defences is unknown but the garrison consisted of 150 Home Guard (including a reserve of 20), with 90 rifles, 3 Browning Automatic Rifles and one tank gun. The defended Location would have been decommissioned by early in 1944. Most traces would have been removed by 1945. There are no known survivals.
