Full Description
Second World War Defended Locality DL24 at Hammonds Corner, Gravesend. It was centred on the intersection of Singlewell Road and Cross Lane East and probably originated in 1940. The nature of the defences is unknown but would have consisted at least of a moveable road obstacle. The garrison was 30 Home Guard, with 20 rifles. The position would have been decommissioned by early in 1944. Any residue of the defences would have been removed in 1945. No traces remain.
