Summary

Second World War war emergency Poilice telephone box at the corner of Cross Lane West with Wrotham Road, Gravesend. It was integrated into the civil defence communications of Gravesend. It was probably positioned in 1940 and although decommissioned for war emergency purposes in 1945, appears to have continued in existence until around 1960.

Full Description

Second World War war emergency Police telephone box at the SE corner of the junction of Cross Lane West with Wrotham Road, Gravesend. It was integrated into the civil defence reporting and communications system for Gravesend. It would have been decommissioned for war emergency purposes at the end of the Second World War in Europe in 1945. It seems to have continued in existence for general police purposes until about 1960. There are scar lines on the ground which might mark the position of the telephone box.
