Full Description
Second World War public basement air raid shelter in a private house at 139-141, Dover Road, Northfleet. It had capacity for 20 people. Its formation would have involved strengthening of the basement with timber strutting. It probably originaterd by 1940 and would have been decommissioned by the end of the Second World War in Europe in 1945. Strutting would probably have been removed in 1946. The house, and presumably its basement, still exists.
