Summary

Second World War light anti-aircraft battery VG1 in a former field (now within the Riverview Park housing estate), Gravesend. One of four batteries which appear to have been sited for the defence of RAF Gravesend. It consisted of one 40mm Bofors gun and 1 Lewis gun. In position by May 1942 but probably originated earlier. The date of removal is unknown.
