Full Description
Second World War Emergency Feeding Centre within the Gordon (now Chantry) School, Ordnance Road, Gravesend. This was for feeding people in the community who were displaced from their homes as a result of damage from an enemy air raid. From the quoted source, this facility began at least as early as 1942 (and probably in 1941). Its details are unknown, but is likely to involved pre-positioning of cooking and kitchen equipment at the school, probably in the vicinity of any existing kitchen. Decommissioning would have occurred by the end of the Second World War in Europe in 1945. The school building survives.
