Full Description

Second World Emergency Water Tank adjacent to the Clock Tower in Berkeley Crescent, Gravesend. Supplementing the mains supply, such tanks were placed to provide an instant and ready-use supply of water for fighting fires in its neighbourhood caused by an air raid. Its design, date of establishement and demise are knot known but it is likely to have originated in 1940 and to have been decommissioned by the end of the Second World War in Europe in 1945 and (given that it probably impinged on a road way) removed the same year.
