Full Description
Second World War civil defence fire hydrant provided after May, 1940 on a grass verge at the SW corner of Gore Green Road and Sandhill Lane, Higham. This was to provide additional water capacity in the event of fires being started nearby by the effects of bombing. Design and form are unknown. It formed part of a wider enhancements of water supply during the war period. It would have been decommissioned for war emergency purposes at the end of the Second World War in Europe in 1945. It no longer exists and would have been removed at an uncertain date post-war.
