Summary

Cold War air raid siren on a grassed open space on the west side of Whitehill Road, Gravesend. It consisted of an electric siren on a sturdy pole, set within a small fenced enclosure. This was to give a warning of an impending air attack and to give the all-clear. It originated c. 1954, was decommissioned by 1986 and removed shortly afterwards.
