Full Description
Second World War air raid wardens post established in the pavilion on the south side of the cricket ground off Trafalgar Road, Gravesend. It reported to a central control centre. As such it was one of a network of such posts serving the Gravesend area and a local focus in the incident reporting chain for coordinating the emergency services in the event of injury or damage resulting from an air raid. Its wardens also enforced blackout restriction. The post probably originated by 1939 and decommissioned by 1945. The pavilion survives.
