Full Description
Cold War air raid siren erected c. April, 1952, in a fenced enclosure within a small open space on the west side of Packham Road at its junction with White Avenue, Northfleet. It formed part of the air raid warning system for the district, emitting a distictive tone to warn of an attack, and other tones to advise of the approach of radioactive fallout from a nuclear explosion and to give the all-clear. The dates of decommissioning and of removal are not known but are thought by local residents to have been c. 1980. No other details are known.
