Monument record TQ 67 SW 1312 - Pelham Arms Second World War air raid wardens post, Pelham Road South, Gravesend

Summary

Second World War air raid wardens post established by 1939, in the car park area of the Pelham Arms, on the SE corner of the junction of Pelham Road South with Old Road West, Gravesend. Information about the post is not complete. It appears to have begun as an extemporised sanbagged structure and to have been replaced by a concrete or brick building within about a year. It was in use in 1942 and probably continued until decommissioning in 1945. Supposed demolition was in 1965.
