Full Description
Second World War surface air raid shelter built c. 1940 in the rear playground of Cobham Primary School, The Street, Cobham, for the protection of the pupils. It is rectangular (14m x 4m), constructed of brick and has a flat concrete roof. There is a single shelter room, with an airlock entrance at either end. There are slight traces of one of the timber airlock frames and the remnants of an anti-gas shutter for one of the airvents. The shelter was discontinued at the end of the Second World War in Europe in 1945 and is in use as a school store.
