Monument record TQ 67 SE 1165 - Brown Road Second World War National Fire Service Action Station, Gravesend, Kent

Summary

Second World War National Fire Service Action Station at the junction of Brown Road with Old Road East, Gravesend. This was one of a network of places across the district where fire appliances and staff were based to put out any fires resulting from air raids. This appears to have been a single-storey flat roofed building, large enough in post-war judgement to be considered for use for the temporary accommodation of two homeless families. It originated in 1939 and lasted in use until 1945, to be demolished at an unknown date. No other information is known.
