Summary

Second World War Emergency Mortuary in the stable of the Rose and Crown public house in The Street, Shorne, nr. Gravesend, Kent. It was designated in 21 December, 1939. This was for the storage of corpses in the event of deaths in the neighbourhood from bombing. The mortuary would be been decommissioned by no later than 1945. There is no known structure at the site that can definitely be identified as having been the stable.
