The battery is now buried under channel tunnel spoil with only concrete roads and the top of one ammunition lift visible. The battery site is located next to the A20 near Lydden Spout Battery. It is one of only two 8 inch coast batteries ever built for the Royal Artillery, the other one being Capel Battery. The guns were high angle and could also be used in an anti-aircraft role.
