During the Second World War an 'Oboe' station was constructed at Kingsdown. The station was one of two in the UK that sent out radio beams to guide Allied bombers attacking Germany. The beam from Kingsdown would intersect another sent from Norfolk at the bombing point.

Full Description

During the Second World War an 'Oboe' station was constructed at Kingsdown. The station was one of two in the UK that sent out radio beams to guide Allied bombers attacking Germany. The beam from Kingsdown would intersect another sent from Norfolk at the bombing point.(1)

A concrete road leads up the hill to the site with hut bases on either side. At the main site are the bases of four masts that supported the aerials along with hut bases and the base of an engine room.
