Type 22 hexagonal Pillbox from WWII observed and mapped from aerial military photographs approximately 4m in diameter. Situated on Shakespeare Beach, west Dover in close proximity to the wall that surrounds the railway station and complex. First observed February 1941 [1]. By June 1942 [2]the Pillbox was visible with a layer of anti-invasion scaffolding 2m to the south of it which extended in both directions along the beach front (see record : MWX43488). The Pillbox was last clearly observed and mapped from photographs taken in September 1945 [3]. It was difficult to make out by December 1945 and was possibly demolished [4].

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
