Full Description
Former site of a WWII Type 22 Hexagonal Pillbox situated at the eastern extent of Shakespeare Beach in West Dover. Measuring approximately 4m across the pillbox is 40m west of the western ferry terminal and positioned to the south of a long stretch of linear scaffolding in an area possibly used to store and lay-up small boats. The Pillbox was mapped and first observed June 1942. It is Still visible by April 1947, however by April 1950 the structure appears to have been demolished. (1-2)
