Rectangular thick-walled pillbox approx. 12 feet by 10 feet. Embrasures to E and W; blast-protected entrance to S. Remains of Turnbull mounts in embrasures. [Narrowly missed by recently constructed pipeline]. Two anti-tank pimples in hedge on opposite side of lane approx 10m South.

Rectangular pillbox with L-shaped integral entrance on S side. NW embrasure covers hill and valley towards Hawkinge: SE side covers field and houses of Capel-le-Ferne. There are no other embrasures. Central dividing wall opposite entrance. Turnbull mounting. Cauldham Lane, Capel. East side of road, just north of Great Cauldham Farm. (1)

The pillbox is located at TR 24520 38984 on the east side of cauldham Lane, just north of Great Cauldham Farm. The pillbox was constructed to defend the point where an anti tank ditch (1533049) crossed Cauldham Lane. This site has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP (Component 2) (2-3)
