Uncompleted type 24 infantry pillbox!? Forgotten by contractors ? As plinth constructed by one contractor pillbox structure by another. Forming part of Hoo stop line (GHQ line) anti invasion defences 1940. Facing N. Summary from record TQ 77 SE 113: The base of a concrete, type 24, World War II Pillbox is located on the north west edge of Wybornes Wood. This now incomplete Pillbox was part of the defences of the Lodge Hill Ammunition Depot.

Description from record TQ 77 SE 113:
Concrete type 24 pillbox on crestline facing N. Incomplete (base slab only). Intended to be part of the defences of Lodge Hill Magazine. Site visit by VTC Smith 29/9/1995

Included in English Heritage Report on the Second World War Stop Line in 2014: "Second World War reinforced concrete Type 24 pillbox, constructed on the north-west edge of Wybornes Wood, High Halstow, near the north-eastern corner of Lodge Hill Royal Naval Armaments Depot. It appeared as an extant structure on Google Earth aerial photographs taken in 2007, but is under tree cover on aerial photographs of 2013 so current condition is unknown". (2)
