Full Description

Rail-blocks such as this were chiefly intended to hinder enemy tanks in their progress along railway lines towards London. This block, can be seen, just to the east of a bridge over the railway, on immediate post-war aerial photographs. It comprised a pair of large rectangular concrete blocks on either side of the tracks. This rail block was assigned the number 61 in a list of such structures published 2 December 1940.
