Monument record TR 15 NW 724 - Second World War Civil Defence Ambulance Depot at Orchard House, Wincheap, Canterbury

Summary

In mid September 1940 Orchard House became available Canterbury’s second civil-defence ambulance depot. The cellar was strengthened to provide a refuge room for staff and the depot was occupied in early December. In mid November materials were provided for lean-to garage. The house, and depot, was demolished by enemy action at the end of October 1942.
