Full Description
Canterbury’s first Municipal Restaurant of the Second World War was in the Prince of Wales’ Institute, Home of the Canterbury Lads’ Club, on Northgate (the Cookery School on St John’s Place had also been considered). It was equipped and opened in January 1941 and provided cheap but nutritious meals-out to bolster public morale. The restaurant was transferred to Parry Hall at the King’s School in 1941.
