Full Description
In a rearrangement of civil-defence wardens’ posts made around April 1943, a new post was ordered to be established, on the site of the devastated Leopard’s Head public house (since rebuilt). It was to be housed in a new, purpose-built, reinforced concrete surface shelter. This was designated Post ‘D/3’ - the previous post of that name, on Lady Wooton’s Green, having been made redundant by extensive destruction in that area. The new post, it was predicted ‘would have to be on the Ruttington Lane side [of the site] where there [was] ample room, which [had] already been levelled.
