Monument record TR 15 NE 917 - Second World War Civil Defence warden’s post and air-raid siren at the Gas Booster Station, Sturry Road, Canterbury

Summary

On 20 October 1939, the Canterbury civil-defence warden’s Post at the water treatment works was removed to the Gas Booster Station further out along the Sturry Road. They brought their air-raid siren with them. By March 1943 this post seems to have moved again, to a new, purpose-built concrete surface shelter on the corner of Sturry Road and Reed Avenue.
