Monument record TR 15 NW 888 - Second World War Civil Defence warden’s post in Worthgate Place, Canterbury
Summary
There was a Second World War Civil Defence warden’s post at Worthgate Place. This was an ‘advanced’ post, and as such was manned permanently. By late October 1941, the post was housed in the Canterbury Gas and Water Company’s employees’ air-raid shelter. It was then ordered that that a new post, sufficient for twelve wardens, be constructed in ‘a surface building constructed in accordance with modern principles to withstand blast.’
