Monument record TR 15 NW 797 - Second World War public air-raid shelters, Blore’s Piece, St Stephen’s Road, Canterbury

Summary

A timber-lined public trench air-raid shelter was excavated on ‘Blore’s Piece’ during the Munich Crisis of late September 1938. In mid March 1939, plans were drawn up to make the Blore’s Piece shelters permanentand the improved shelter was approved for use in mid-January 1940. The shelter was extended early in 1941.
