Building record TR 15 NE 967 - Second World War public air-raid shelter under a grandstand at Kent County Cricket Ground, Canterbury

Summary

In late August 1940 it was agreed to there being a public air-raid shelter under a grandstand at the St Lawrence’s Cricket Ground in Canterbury. The shelter was approved in November. Around January 1941 the shelter was selected to house an alternative civil-defence Control Centre, but this use seems to have lapsed by the end of the following year.
